Breast Augmentation Costs

The decision to have a breast augmentation is a big one.  There are many factors to consider, with the cost of surgery being a major one.

The cost for breast augmentation surgery seem to vary slightly, depending on location and region, but the national average fee charged by most plastic surgeons who are members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) is approximately $3400. It is imperative to make sure you are going to a board certified surgeon so don’t be tempted to go a cheap route. This is one of those times that you really don’t want to suffer the consequences of getting what you paid for……

More affluent and larger cities will charge more for the breast augmentation procedure and individual physicians charge higher or lower rates depending on experience and skill level. Prices in Alabama will be lower than areas of California, where it is not unheard of to pay up to $9000,00 for a breast augmentation procedure.

This amount however, does not take into account the costs associated with the surgery itself, such as the breast implants, the anesthetic, the medical facility that is being used to perform the surgery, and sometimes the actual placement of the implant can affect the amount being charged.

The breast implants prices themselves seem to cost anywhere between $600 and $1000 for saline breast implants, and $1000 to $1800 for silicone breast implants.

Breast implants costs vary again depending on if you decide to go for the basic round implant, or profile which is an implant that is more tear-dropped shaped, giving a more natural rounded look to the breast.  Profile implants are going to cost you an added $300-500 dollars to your tab.

The cost of the anesthesia and nurse care will cost another $700 to $1000 dollars.  There is also the often forgotten charges for pain medications $50) and a super duper sports bra (also around $50), a must have for immediately after the surgery is completed.

While the price may seem a bit steep, there is no price for the boost to your self-esteem that having breast augmentation surgery will have. Not to mention, it gives you a great excuse to go bikini and bra shopping!
